With school getting out next week, I better make a recap of this past spring!
Collin
In January, Collin started blessing the sacrament. I can't believe he is old enough, but he's been doing a great job.
Collin was on the Robotics FIRST Team this year. As a freshman, he was the primary backup computer programmer. He trained all year, and he will now be their lead programmer the next 3 years. He had a competition the first weekend of Spring Break in Belton, and his second competition was the second weekend of Spring Break here in San Antonio.
He was selected as an outstanding student by his Spanish teacher for the 3rd quarter as well. They had a special breakfast before school for the honored kids, and it was well-deserved.
Collin had another successful piano recital in February, where he was the grand finale. He played Chopin's Raindrop Prelude. This summer he is taking piano composition lessons at UTSA with a professor who happens to be in our stake. Wahoo! He's excited.
Brennan
He participated in Academic UIL again this year. At Districts, he got second place in Calculator, and he got 2nd in Science as well.
To raise money for Young Men's Camp over Spring Break (Collin didn't go because of one of the robotics competitions), the boys were servers in the cultural hall. Collin played background music on the piano, and Brennan was a waiter.
Brennan ran track this spring. He did very well in both hurdle and high jump during the school season. In fact, he tied the school record for 7th grade high jump at 5'1". He got his name on the wall in the lobby. Super cool! He usually gets about 2nd/3rd in the 300H, and 3rd/4th in the 110H. We had some rainy meets, and Districts didn't turn out how he hoped, but he is now in the middle of club track, which started in April and continues until school starts again in August.
He was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society too.
Ethan
Ethan played up a year in soccer this season. Many of the other kids were already 12, and at just 10, he was a bit intimidated. He had a few good kicks/plays every game, but I'm hoping with the big kids moving up with the new season in the fall, he'll be able to hold his own better.
He was selected to be part of the 10-student crew for the morning news show at school next year, as a fifth grader. He is so super excited!
Ethan was selected for Rave about a Roadrunner for helping another classmate struggling in math. He is such a natural with numbers, and he is a good friend to everyone around him.
