Happy 6th, Katelyn!

And just like that, our baby has turned SIX!

Katelyn's birthday was on a Saturday this year, so she took a treat to share at school on Friday. She loves the Little Debbie unicorn cakes, so those were super easy to send along.

On Saturday morning, she requested that Daddy make omelets, so she got a special omelet with peppers, mushrooms, green onion, cheddar and bacon. Yum!

After helping in the yard for a bit, she met her best friend Isabella at Arrows Indoor Active Play Park. They had a ton of fun running around and playing.

We even got lunch there (meat/cheese/cracker plate).

When she got home, she let her brothers play with her present from Isabella - kinetic sand.

That afternoon, we had her cake and ice cream. She wanted yellow cake with strawberry icing and chocolate chips. We also tried Strawberries & Cookie ice cream, which was delicious.

Then she opened her present. We got her some little headbands because she always wants to wear her hair down "like a big girl," but then it falls in her eyes and looks awful. Problem solved!

She picked dinner that evening too - Kraft macaroni and cheese with peas. Easy to please!

Last but not least, she wanted a family game of Among Us where everyone had to put a party hat on their character. So fun!

Katelyn is a big first grader now. She is really thriving. She loves her teacher and is a great helper. Being bossy doesn't hurt! She is awesome about doing her chores before and after school around the house, and she loves to help Mom in the kitchen.

She is taking a year off from piano to focus on other things, so this year she is taking a ballet/tap/jazz beginners class at a dance studio as well as playing soccer. She'll be busy, so I'm really hoping she can keep up.

We are so grateful that Katelyn is our caboose. She is the perfect addition to our lazy house of boys. She is always full of energy and wanting to try anything and everything new! Love you, Kakie!

First Day of School 2021-2022

And it's time for school again!

Last May, our governor declared that mask mandates are illegal in the state.
Last night at 7:30pm, our county declared that masks are required inside schools.
Our district is mostly in a different county than our home, but our elementary school is also in our "mask-mandated" county.
Just like last year, we are starting the year with lawyers duking it out downtown.
Sigh. When will it ever end?!

My three elementary kids. Last year for Brennan!

Summer of Stay-cations

A brief overview of this summer. We had to cancel our big trip to the Grand Canyon (Navajo Nation is still closed due to COVID), but we more than made up for it with lots of fun activities in our area.

Ethan & Katelyn finished their soccer seasons.

Katelyn & Collin had their end-of-year piano recital.

Collin got fully vaccinated!

Brennan & Ethan graduated from swim lessons, and Katelyn promoted to the last level.

We had our six dead palm trees cut down and stump grinded.

We went to Mustang Island State Park twice.

We stayed overnight in Corpus Christi - ate seafood for dinner and BBQ for lunch. Go Texas!

Mom & Katelyn went to Sea World.

Collin got his second degree black belt in taekwondo.

Mom took the monkeys to Six Flags water park. Dad came once too.

Mom took the monkeys to Legoland.

Mom & Dad went to the Kendall County bull-riding competition.

Ethan went to day-camp at Dominion Country Club for a week.

Collin went to Young Men's Camping at Goose Island State Park for a week.

Brennan went to drawing camp for a week.

Katelyn & Mom went to Cibolo Creek.

We went to Canyon Lake a bunch of times.

Katelyn got her third hair cut.

We went to the fireworks a Six Flags a couple times.

We got rid of our preschooler playroom and made a big-kid Lego room.

We went to some fun programming at the library.

Ryan's sister and her family came for the weekend from Dallas.

Katelyn went to princess dance camp for a week.

We went to Kerrville's Louisa Hayes waterfront park.

We went to Guadalupe River State Park.

And that's a wrap! Summer 2021 is now in the books.
