CHURCH HISTORY TOUR

We just had a fabulous 8-day trip! I am going to intentionally write this to be shared with others who may want to plan a trip similar to ours. Enjoy!

DAY 1: TRAVEL

Fly to SAT -> CLE & rent car

Drive to Niagara Falls, Canada (3-1/2 hrs)

Walk to the Falls

Sleep at Doubletree Fallsview Resort

DAY 2: NIAGARA FALLS - CANADA

8:30 Voyage to the Falls boat tour (tix, water shoes, jacket, cell pouches)

Souvenir Shopping & Lunch @ Clifton Hill

2pm Journey Behind the Falls walking tour (tix, water shoes, jacket, cell pouches)

10pm Fireworks

Sleep at Doubletree Fallsview Resort

DAY 3: NIAGARA FALLS - USA

Drive to Niagara Falls, USA (20 mins)

Niagara Falls State Park (Goat Island)

Drive to Palmyra (2 hrs)

        - Hill Cumorah Visitors Center (10am-7pm, video, no tour) 

        - Walk up hill on own

Martin Harris Farm (private home, sign next to picnic pavilion)

Sleep at Best Western Palmyra Inn & Suites

DAY 4: PALMYRA/MANCHESTER, NY

9am Palmyra Temple (RCBE - baptisms) (church clothes, temple names, recommends)

Sacred Grove Welcome Center (10am-5pm, tour w/ no video) 

        - Smith Family Farm

        - Walk in Sacred Grove (on own)

Lunch @ Chill & Grill

Grandin Building (Book of Mormon Publication Site, guided tour w/ no video)

6:15 Palmyra Temple (RL - endowment) (temple clothes, names, recommends)

Sleep at Best Western Palmyra Inn & Suites

DAY 5: FAYETTE, NY

Drive to Palmyra -> Peter Whitmer Farm (40-min drive)

Peter Whitmer Farm (10am-7pm, video & guided tour)

Drive Whitmer Farm -> Oakland Township, PA (2 hrs)

Priesthood Restoration Sites 

        - Start at Visitor’s Center (10am-7pm, guided tour & video) 

        - Hale Home

        - Smith Home

        - Cemetery

        - Sugar Bush Grove

Priesthood Restoration Baptismal Site (river, on own, no tour)

Sleep at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Binghamton - Johnson City (30 mins)

DAY 6: HIRAM, OH

Drive to PA -> Kirtland (5.5 hrs)

John & Elsa Johnson Farm (10am-7pm, 1-hr guided tour)

Sleep at Holiday Day Inn Express Painesville - Concord

DAY 7: KIRTLAND, OH

Morley Farm (private residence, walk path in woods with signs)

Historic Kirtland Visitor's Center (10am-7pm, video & guided tour)

        - Whitney Home

        - Newel K. Whitney Store & School of Prophets 

        - Sawmill

        - Ashery

Lunch @ Kirtland Creamery

Walk around at the Stannard Quarry (temple quarry site)

Kirtland Temple Visitor's Center (Mon-Sat 10am-4pm, guided 30-min tour of temple)

Joseph & Emma Smith Home (10am-7pm, north of cemetery, 30-min guided tour)

7pm “This is Kirtland!” Musical (8751 Kirtland Rd, Kirtland)

DAY 8: CLEVELAND, OH

Cuyahoga National Park

        - Brandywine Falls Loop (2.6 miles, trail to boardwalk then hike down, waterfall/creek/forest, spacious parking & bathrooms)

        - Blue Hen Falls (start at Boston Mill Visitor Center, 2.5 miles along Buckeye Trail, waterfall in hole)

Edgewater Park (pier, Lindsey Play Space, skyline & lake views, script sign)

 

Return car & Fly home CLE -> SAT

FRIENDS!

We met up with our current neighbors the Stevens at Niagara Falls, USA.

We had an Ice Cream & Mario Cart party with Lindsey's BYU friend Hatsuho.

We saw our BYU friends Justin & Angela in the "This is Kirtland" play.
